brake lights don't work with the hand lever

hi ya'll I just noticed my brake lights don't work with the hand grip. they do work with the foot pedal and when I have the cruise control on the hand grip will cancel it . the relay clicks under the seat when I press the handle any suggestions. ???

That does not make sense.

The front brake lever actuates a switch that sends power to the brake relay coil.

The rear brake pedal actuates a switch that sends power to the same brake relay coil.

When that relay coil is energized, it closes its contacts and sends power to the various brake lights.

It shouldn't be possible for both the hand lever and the foot pedal to both cause that relay to click, yet only the foot pedal actually lights the brakes - what is turning the brake lights on is the relay, so if the relay is being actuated, regardless of what is actuating it, the brake lights should come on.

Are you sure you are hearing a relay click when you squeeze the hand lever?

positive, I felt it when depressing the handle. is there a wire in the trunk maybe that could be broken?????? all I know is my brake lights don't work with the handle. could it be a bad wire at the switch
