2012 Honda Goldwing Aux and power cable

Postby kc10fe » Sun Aug 30, 2015 7:29 pm

I have an aux cable in the rear trunk that plugs directly into the Honda audio unit so I can connect a USB cable and listen to my iPhone in the Aux position. Is there a possibility of moving that aux cable to the left front console? So I can charge my iPhone and listen to the music via the Aux button and still have access to my phone without it being in the trunk? I have removed the left front console and found two empty plugs-a red one and a white one. I understand the red one can be used to add a USB charger for charging, but does this allow music to be played through the Honda Aux? Or is it just for charging? And what is the white plug used for?

Thank you for your time.

The white one is the second aux setting on your audio system. You will need the cable to connect it to your earphone jack on the Iphone. The level 1 did not come with this cable, but you can purchase one from many sources, or directly from your dealer.
Pressing the aux button will toggle between the two.
Why not just use a thumbdrive hooked up to the cable in the trunk for your music?

Excellent! I was hoping that was what the white connector was for but I need to get the cable that you referenced. Do you know if the white one will charge at the same time as using it for music on the aux? I am not opposed to using a thumbdrive but I was hoping I could charge my phone and listen to music on the aux at the same time as I have my phone in a cradle on the handle bars. Again, thank you for your reply.

The white connector is only for audio input to the system. You will still need to connect the power using the red one.
