Start here:

I installed the SPEEDBLEEDERS on the clutch and the brakes and used their catch bag to collect the old fluid, and that's the way to go. Soooooooo simple to do and saves a ton of time later on too, it's a one-person operation.
Google is a huge help when it comes to finding instructions, but be careful that you're looking at instructions for the GL1800 and not another model since Google isn't perfect when searching "clutch bleeding GL....."
It's simple to do, just takes some time getting the front cowl off and back on since the fasteners are a b!tc4 to reinstall.

I, also, just finished installing the SPPEDBLEEDERS ($68.75 shipped from Shinhopples for 7+1 bleeders and catch bag) Easy sqeezy! Now I'm MUCH more likely to do this every year....

I use a Mityvac pump. All fluid contained and works great.
Agree, getting to it is the hardest part.
The GL1800 is a crotch rocket on Steroids.
