Hello again goldwingers. Any tips on jacking up my 2004 1800 to do service?

It is really hard to answer without knowing what kind of jack you have. I have the Pit Bull so that is what I am used to using. It does an excellent job with my 2004 GL1800, VTX, and CBX.

I have the pit bull style but the bike is not flat on the bottom.
my 1500 was not balanced well so the back end was always low and I had to stick pieces of wood under the back wheel as I jacked. It never felt safe to me.
Is the 1800 the same.

Pit Bull is one of the best. There is a "shim" that slips on one of the "runners" to level the Wing on this jack!
With bike on side stand, jack goes under from the right side(opposite side from the side stand.
Make sure it is in(under) and you can see the runners from the kick stand side.
Wing shim on the front runner under the kick stand side of bike
Rear runners under the center stand bracket
Start raising the jack, It will "stand" the bike up straight and then will lift the bike.
Make sure you ingage the jack lock(s).
Use ratchet straps to secure the bike to the stand.
When you let it down, I always hold the handle bar so the bike "eases" over onto the side stand and doesn't "fall" over onto it.
