No audio from onboard satalite after CB install

Postby oilboy1162 » Sat Sep 12, 2015 5:35 am

Soooo, after finally obtaining acb/antenna kit for my 2013 gl1800 and LABORING to install, everything is great except now i do not get audio through the speakers when i have the XM radio turned on. display shows channel/program info so i assume (i know.bad thing to do) its recieving the signal ok.called the cb manufacturer,Bikemp3. the unit, like the OEM,kills ALL audio when TX/RXing,so it makes sense the prob. isnt in the cb.
I turn to you,my fellow Wingers for guidance and help.
this is your mission, if you choose to accept it and will self-destruct in 10 seconds..................................

OK, the first thing to do is to disconnect the BikeMP3 CB and see if the problem is resolved.

Look at where we've come when you hook up a CB and the satellite goes down. Epitome of a first world problem. I may install a portable escalator on my bike to help me get on the seat when I'm tired.

I would suggest two things. First be sure you hooked up the CB exactly as the directions from BikeMP3 state. Check all wires for any crimping or looseness.
Second, I would contact BikeMP3 direct and see if they can help.

Make sure all the wire plugs are firmly in the radio. When I put my OEM CB in, I lost the channel control. Took it apart and found that even though one of the plugs was in the slot, it was not all the way in and locked. Not much room to work in there and I thought it was all the way in and locked.

If its rear speakers only I'd confirm the rear speakers work with the radiobbefore I pulled the shelter off; if not check the connection beneath the seat for the rear speakers. I installed and MP3 CB as well and was re-arranging various wires to eliminate crossed up signals between audio and antenna wires, headsets pigtails, etc, sure enough I disconnected several wires. For me all worked but would have been real easy to forget one or leave one a bit loose.

only problem is ALL speakers are silent, but only when trying to listen to satelite radio. took cb out twice and reinstalled radio but no change. definitly looks like recieving signal.

I agree. Check the satellite radio antenna and make sure it hasn't become disconnected - or the antenna wire cut!

Seems like the audio is muted, by the intercom or the CD recieving and with its volume turned down to 0. I didn't read anything about testing the speakers with an FM radio signal, if it works with the speakers than I'm wrong.
