Muffler Tips

Postby dodi » Sun Oct 25, 2015 2:21 am

Been riding the new to me 2010 Goldwing and am absolutely loving it. Anyways the bike i bought has both exhaust tips that need replacing......corroded , chipped , just awful to look at....not sure how it happened. Dealer in Canada quoted me $200 dollars Cdn each to replace the tips....approximately 9 or 10 inches long....crazy expensive. I went online and checked ebay and found some cool retro turned down tips with a photo showing how they look. They are only 120 for the set. They are not an OEM product. They are kinda cool looking and give the bike a classic sort of look. Does anyone have any other suggestions re: exhaust tips....should I buy OEM tips and are the turned down tips just not appropriate looking for a 2010 GL......Thanks for any advice ahead of time.

Nothing wrong with turn downs.

Turn downs look just fine on a GL1800. I have them on my bike. The ones from "Big Bike" are a full 90 degree elbow and the ones from Kuryakyn are only a 45 degree elbow. I have the Big Bike 90s. I have to say tho, that the pic you posted does not appear to have turn down tips on it. Or is that your bike?

That is my bike in the photo....it has the original OEM muffler tips, but they are quite badly damaged, hard to tell from photo. The reason i am considering the turn down tips is besides liking the look they are quite a bit cheaper than the Honda ones....I was quotes 200 dollars each in Canada and $200 plus for the pair in the USA. I found the Kuryakyn ones for a $100 plus for two.

Should anyone need a new stock pair, I changed to the 6 into 6 exhaust and have a set of nearly new tips available. Just make an offer an include shipping cost. Just an FYI. But your set up looks very nice. Good going!

Congratulations on the new to you Wing. I have an 04 that I put the Honda Turned Down tips on in 05 and they still look close to new.

More importantly to you I have the original tips in a box that I took off to put the Turned Down tips on. I am in VA. 23231 for shipping. As far as pricing what is the cost of new tips and no more than 50% plus shipping.

I tow a trailer so prefer the turned down tips to reroute the exhaust down???
