Question About A Locked Post

Postby Keyboard » Sun Jul 25, 2010 10:28 pm

I see that the post titled "Getting a "New" 2008 ABS--MX help/insight" is locked. I was wondering why. I didn't see anything obvious that would cause that. Since I had replied to that post, I hope I didn't say or do anything to cause the lock. Hence, I would like to know the reason. Does anyone know why that post got locked?

I suspect it was because the thread got a little passive-agressively heated toward the end...locking a thread quickly diffuses the situation in many instances; a common and often effective forum administration tactic.

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see where the discussions on that post got heated. Oh well ...

I would agree, but I highly suspect that's what happened...maybe a pm to wingadmin would clarify things, but to be honest, I'm not that concerned about it---if you've got more questions that go along the lines of the original thread, just start another thread.

I know I can start a new thread. My question was why the post was locked, not how to respond to it.

Sorry I didn't jump on this earlier - yes, there were a couple complaints about the direction the thread was heading, so I locked the thread.

That was my first time starting a Thread on this Forum. It was Baptism by fire. I got a couple of great responses, although one took a bit to understand. As the thread progressed I thought I had made a mistake joining this Forum.

The good news is that I purchased my new Goldwing on Monday. Looking forward to the rides. Looking forward to meeting more folks who ride Goldwings. My wife and I have been Harley folks for over 13 years. (I think I always will be at heart.) I made a "mistake" ;) and rented a Goldwing in May of this year and 2 months later traded the Harley in for a Goldwing. It broke my heart and I'm in the buyers remorse stage now, but I think I'll slowly get over it. It was just time to make a change in the style of riding. I believe it will be a great change but will miss the Harley we had and the memories on it. Looking forward to new and great memories on the Goldwing.
