I have a 2012 and the stereo is more than sufficient. Changing speakers may help but you already have a separate amp on the 2012.
The pre-06 needed help, but the ones after that are much better. Did you by any chance blow the stock speakers?

I added four Polk Audio dB501's - a big difference! This seems to be a fairly popular speaker to use; on my '03, I had no problems putting them in, both front and rear.
Good speakers make a big difference.

Polk DB501s will not fit the front of 2006 and later GL1800s. They will fit the back, have great sound, but are not as loud as the stock ones were. Need DB651s for the front. The stock speakers from 2006 up are pretty decent stock equipment.

I installed 4 db501s in my 2004 and it was a big improvement. I haven't done this yet but am considering it http://www.wingconnect.com/

Me too! It seems a better way than an add-on amplifier...

John1952 has a 2012 wing. All the repairs and upgrades listed are for pre 2006. Better speakers may help his problem.
J&M Audio has a new set of speakers for the 2006 and up GL1800. Exact fit.
