I forgot to add I think it only works on 2012 and newer wings
older will have to update firmware

Yes. That firmware version only works on 2012 and up. There is a firmware version for CF carded Navi units that allows them to take the newer maps, but the CF cards are normally limited to 2GB or less map files. 2009 and 2010 US model bikes are in between - not CF cards and I think not the newest firmware versions so I do not know what can be done with them.

FYI 2017.10 has been out for about a month. Don't know why it is 2017.10 but that is what Garmin has called it.

Check the gps sites. they have all the info you need including maps both locked and unlocked. If you have a gps with LMT than you can download the maps to your computer and then manipulate then as needed.
