There are usually only 2 things that cause the CB error. Battery is going south or corrosion on CB connections. Easy way to check if it is battery is to turn CB off prior to starting engine and turn it on after engine is running. The audio unit does not like low voltage and will cause it to not recognize inputs from the controls, show various errors or not work at all. A lot of times just leaving the key in the on position and disconnecting the negative battery cable, waiting 10 seconds and reconnecting will clear Audio errors.

The early 1800 wings had this a lot. most of the time it is the main plug on the CB. But as Wayne said could be the battery, try the easy stuff first before you take the bike apart to get to the plug.
