transmitting on the cb radio

Postby glybill » Sat Mar 26, 2016 8:26 pm

I have a 2004 1800 Goldwing that I bought with with 6000 miles. The first owner had a Honda cb radio install by the Honda dealer. It has never had good transmission always muffled and to the point that everyone say they just cant understand what I am saying. I have eliminated that it is not the head set or cord to the five pin connector on the bike. I Receive everyone else just fine. and when I use someone else s headset and cord the transmission is the same {bad}. I have installed the JM mp3 and phone plug and play and the transmission from the phone is bad but receiving is good. Have also had the JM checked out and its good. What is wrong and how do I correct this. thanks Bill

JUST A THOUGHT, HAVE YOU TRIED TO MATCH YOUR ANTENNA RECENTLY? LIKE I SAID, JUST A THOUGHT.

I ride with a fellow regularly that has the same problem you describe. His transmissions are so weak and unreadable, I just about given up on trying to communicate with him. I've told him about it, and nothing gets done as he doesn't know where to start I guess. His symptoms are he has a good strong signal, but there's no usable modulation to speak of.
When you figure out what to do and/or what will work, please let me know and I'll pass it along.

The early OEM Clarion CB radios, date code previous to May 2004, had a modulation and squelch problem and were replaced by refurb radios with a green dot to indicate they were repaired. If this is one of the early radios a lot of owners did not know about the replacement policy and just lived with the problem. We have since repair a few hundred of the early radios.

You might want to contact larry at: http://www.wingconnect.com/

He does some repairs on CB's as well as the GL audio systems. I believe you have to email him through the website with the problem and he will tell you if he can fix it or not!
