Shocks

Postby rexliggett » Mon Apr 04, 2016 3:23 pm

I need to raise the rear of my bike, it's starting to drag while removing it from my trailer, it used to come off without any problems, it busted the antifreeze tank once, I had it replaced and had a shield installed so it wouldn't happen again, but I would like to raise it up so it will clear the trailer.

Sounds like the rear shock is getting soft (don't last forever), as does happen on the 1800. Lots of weight to compensate for all round and the suspension only lasts for some 40,000 Kms. Before I bought my '08, researched the net and the suspension was a main issue.

I had the Traxxion suspension upgrade (full Monty) done on my '08. The new rear shock only needed about 8 lbs with two up and luggage on board. You can do a rear shock only from Progressive as well. The suspension upgrade raised the bike about an inch all round. Make sure you put on a heavy spring to compensate for the weight of the GW.

Cheers
