My cruise set light blinks about 2 times per second after reaching 16 mph, when the cruise is turned either on or off, and the cruise will not set. Once in a while it works normally, but seldom. Have made many checks and have concluded the cruise control unit is most likely defective. I am considering replacing both the cruise actuator assembly Honda #36520-MCA-A01 and the cruise controller Honda #36700-MCA-003 at the same time because the cruise actuator cable/carb connection and controller are near each other and are difficult to get to. I understand that the air filter box has to be removed to access the units, which includes removing the gas tank.
Have any of you performed this delicate "surgery" and can give me some good tips on removing and replacing all those parts without overlooking something? Or do you have another diagnosis of my problem from your experiences?
