Whine in my intercom

Postby Rgpracer » Thu Aug 26, 2010 3:37 pm

This is a nice board, I wish I would have found it a long time back. I am new.
Thanks from Wichita KS

I was just told that the whine I am hearing in my intercom is coming from the CB resistors (one of three) on the bike. I need a wiring diagram of the CB. Does anyone know where I can get one?
Thanks

I tried pulling the shop manual page from wingtechtips, but it doesn't load....here is a guy who installed his and took pictures along the way, it will at least show you where the filters are:

Don't believe that to be a true statement!
Those filters are to eliminate the "noise" caused by the items they are hooked to!
The whine could be many things, including added electrical accessories!
About the only thing that takes the Noise out is to add Mic-Mutes which requires a passenger PTT switch of some kind also.
Do you mean an internal diagram of the CB or the bike harness it plugs into?

Is your crusie control on, but not set? Some people get this whine in that scenario, and Fred Harmon fabbed a fix for that on his bike:

The mic mutes dawg is referring to doesn't get rid of the whine, just turns it off when you aren't talking by killing the audio to your headset over the intercom channel, but the whine will be back as soon as you unmute to try to talk to your passenger...

True and I should have told that in my post! But, the mutes do just that, they mute, no noise what-so-ever, which is great since the Wings mics are live all the time. But, alas the noise will be there when you key up to communicate!
I did add one of these to the passenger cord and it reduced noise from the passengers mic a lot:

Thinking about adding another to my cord to see if it helps further.
