engine flutter at all speeds

Postby Sit-Tizer » Wed Sep 21, 2016 10:57 pm

I road my, new to me 2001 goldwing 1800 for the first time today, fr it was delivered today. At an idle and low rev it runs great, but going down the road you can feel a flutter or maybe a miss. Also parked at a midrange rev, it also is noticeable. just not sure what to think, for it's not my 1988 1500 sounds at all. Am i over reacting here or is there an issue?

Since it is new to you and you have no idea what has or has not been done to it or how long it has sat, you should probably change the spark plugs, put some fuel additive in the gas in case it has moisture in it and then fill it with fresh gasoline.

Actually, there are many things that need to be looked at since it is a 15 year old machine. Lord only knows how long it has been since the air filter and fluids have been changed.

What MikeB says is a must if you didn't get any maintenance records. Also try an ECM reset.
