Front Axle Assembly

Postby padre4art » Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:41 am

New to forum - great!

I just put new tires (Bridgestone) front and rear on my 2005 GL1800. I removed the wheels myself and took them to the shop to have the tires mounted.

Reassembling the front axle, I am not sure if I put the spacers (between the fork and the wheel) in the correct orientation. Each spacer/collar (and they are different) has a wide side and a narrow side.

Also, the brakes are dragging a little on one side. My last ride - one rotor was hot, the other was cold when I got home.

I understand we can 'spread the forks' a bit to realign things, but wouldn't this allow the wheel to slide back and forth on the axle?

Thanks for your input!
