GW newbie....

Postby pschilling » Fri Sep 03, 2010 6:27 pm

Hey everyone...........
I recently picked up an 09' Goldwing with ABS and Airbag. What a difference in ride from my previous 750 Shadow Aero.......The GW handles like a dream, and has lots of power to boot..........
I now want to add a trailer hitch, (Rivco RIGL18007), and homemade trailer to it..., just to carry a Karrite car top carrier for some extra storage capacity for my trips...........
Can anyone help me out with the wiring I need beyond the isolater plug that comes with the trailer hitch (Rivco RIGL18007)??? (I will be running separate amber signal lights, combined red brake + running lights and of course, amber side markers on the trailer and tongue....
Is there any way to hide, or permanently affix the trailer wire plug coming from the bike, or does it dangle from the rear end like a car wire plug does???
I am also hoping that the 4-way flashers will also work from the bike with the amber signal lights.......

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Why not use a round trailer receptacle plug, like this:

The picture wingadmin put up came from this page...I've not seen a socket like this in stores, as it mounts flush...I've seen lots of ones that bolt on from the front, but that would just look bad on the back of the wing...you may be able to email the owner of that site and see if he can help you:

Maybe the angle of the pic is playing tricks on me, but it looks like the installed pic doesn't have the screw holes on each side...made me think it was a flush mount, kinda like a 12v accessory plug would mount on a flat surface without showing any fasteners.

If it's the socket you are referring to above, that can be found at any walmart, autozone, etc., it will be a five pin though...Just don't use one of the pins.
