Turn signal/hazard issue

Postby adam2005 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:52 am

I've searched the forum and have not been able to find info about this so I appologize if I just missed it...Basically I'm working on a stock 2009 GL1800 and the turn signals stopped working, the running lights work they just shut off as they should when the signals are used, I replaced the flasher relay and they started working again just fine, but when I hit the hazard button the hazards would turn-on but very weak, almost undetectable then they stopped working altogether and now my turn signal no longer are working again...would this indicate a short between the hazard switch and the relay or a bad ground between them? or am I just way off base with this. Thanks for any advise.

Just out of interest, what did you replace the turn signal flasher with?

I repalced the flasher relay not the signal relay with the OEM flasher FR 33-023. I could feel and hear the signal relay clicking when I engage the signal switch that is working fine. I believe that it's just something with the hazard switch or circuit that is frying the flasher relay...I took the old flasher appart and their is a fairly thick piece of wire inside that has clearly been fried, not burnt all the way through but definatly has had some high voltage shot through there, it was all black and chard along with the solder spots on the circuit board.
