GL1800-2005 Model - Trim Clips

Postby cmwagner » Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:19 am

Hi can anyone advise me how to remove the "Trim Clips" holding the Centre Inner Fairing onto the Goldwing 1800GL 2005 Model. I need to change my Oil Filter and Oil and I seriously don't want to break them. Your Assistance is much appreciated. Cheers Colin

I'm not sure what part you are referring to...but at any rate, you do not need to remove any trim pieces to change the oil other than the right side engine cover, which just pops off...

if you look under the bike, you will find that you can remove the filter without removing the lower cowl, and you can easily reach the oil plug as well. If you have a belly pan (aftermarket accessory) you will need to remove it, but that's a trivial matter.

Thank you, for the information, I did what you advised and it worked like a dream, weird that the Workshop Manual says one needs to remove the Fairing I guess I must not believe everything I read out of the Manual. My next challenge is the Air Filter, however I have picked up some hints off this site, on the net, and out the manual, so here goes. cheers colin

They put up a newer article which shows air filter replacement on the 2006 and later models without air bag:

Thank you for both addresses, I had nothing on the 2005 and more, it'll help in the explanations that I sometimes give to those who learn how to change their spineless filter on their GoldWing.
