TPMS LIGHT AGAIN.

Post by FAT MAN 65 » Sun Apr 01, 2018 9:36 pm

Hello everyone. Well I bought the VT RESET TOOL.I did the front then the rear. The light went out, just like it supposed to. I RODE the bike about 12 miles ,the light came back on. GeeWiz. Next day or so,I reset it again. About 6 miles or so it came back on again. Now I'm just riding with light on.Must be batteries or torn up sensors. Thanks again.

Is it the TPMS light or the tire pressure light?

Thanks Dave. It is the TPMS light. It seems like the reset took, but it didn't.

Bad sensors, to include dead batteries, should come on almost immediately. Maybe weak batteries would fail when they get hot. I got no other ideas.

If you have the newer VT tool, I think there is a way to check for a failed sensor. It should tell you if it even recognizes the sensor. Sounds like a very weak battery that may recover slightly after the bike sits for a while.

Thanks cihilb. The VT unit came with a small CD,but I could never get it to play. I got the instructions from a guy on GL 1800 riders and printed them off. So this is where I am. Thanks again.

My TPMS light comes on once about every 3 months. Has done that since I bought it new.

It always goes off either before I am done riding or it is off the next day when I turn the ignition on. From what I have read, some alarm systems cause the light to go on.
