Ring of fire on air bag models

Post by W Jay E » Sun Feb 06, 2011 2:43 pm

I have recently upgraded from my old 85 Aspencade to the 2010 GL1800 AD . I really want to add the ring of fire to the front wheel but cant find one that is made for the air bag model? A local bike shop said they modify the exsisiting ring of fire that fits the non air bag models all the time. Has anyone out there done this? Will it effect the air bag sensors?

The airbag equipped GL1800 uses devices which sense changes in rates of movement of various parts to which they are attached. Attaching aftermarket devices or parts, or modifying the front wheel, fender,or forks could alter the rate of movement and cause cause the airbag to either not deploy when needed or deploy when not actually needed.
Lots of aftermarket parts will fit but you alter the integrety of the safety system.
