Well I was certainly hoping for more than a mild bodywork make-over!! Guess I will be saving my money for a few more years.. Nice to see something has happened, but very disappointed to see so little real change..

Ya, big yawn. New plastic does not a bike make.

The BMW K1600 is going to cash in on some of the market for the Goldwing. It was very popular at the bike show here.

Hope we're not evolving to a Victory Vision.

With the move back to Japan what did you expect. Here cost was in moving, not the upgrades we were all expecting. You do get 80% more storage space and a trip planner. Man there going to be some greats deals on the 2010s i should have 4 more months to buy one. :( :( :(

Disappointed that (at least in this brief report) no mention of a much needed rear shock MAJOR redesign. Two items needing addressing are the weak spring (Works Performance uses a 1050 lb spring vice Honda's 850 lb) and rebound damping adjustment. Since I have had the Works shock on my 2008, the ride is much more compliant with not the harsh banging onto the shock bumper stop in not really bad bumps. I have the preload set to max 25 even with the 1050 lb rear shock spring Works uses. This allows sag to be at least in the upper range of recommended sag (33% of rear wheel travel). Rebound adjustment is 1 - 18 with a 1 being the fastest/softest. Mine is set to 4 and I am thinking of lowering the setting to 1 or 2. BTW, full riding gear, I weight in at 216 lb and ride single. I can't believe anyone over 200 lb riding double can take the ride with a standard rear shock, certainly not with any preload less than 25.

I too am a bit disappointed as the rumoured tech changes; moving to 2000 Cc, 6 speed, ect. all went by the way side. As for the upgrades in the GPS and ability for MP3, the later basically already exists.

I took advantage of the 2009/10 model sale here in Canada and picked up a 2009 Navi/Comfort at a reasonable price. Now that I've seen the 2012 I'm glad I did.

While the 2012 is probably a great machine, a closer look suggests that a Gold Wing, BMW & Victory went to a Bowling Banguet in 2011 and got a room for the night. The "2012" is the result  .

Talked with the Powerhouse Hollister Honda people; they were very disappointed in what Honda briefed them on the new 2012 GL. The rear end is butt ugly and provides less visibility (fewer lights). No details about rear suspension changes and what is with REDUCING the front end travel by 0.7"?
What Honda needed to do was add a 6th gear with gear indicator, reduce weight some, fix the stinking, idiotic rear shock not just tweak it and give the rider (not rear passenger) more leg/foot room. Oh, and an electrical adjusted windshield would be super good.
Making the saddle bags look as if stolen from a Victory, while leaving the trunk the same is super stupid. What the h#$% is Honda drinking? Stupid juice?

Disappointing....looks like a 1300 and a Victory.

Just an excuse for Honda in Japan to jack up the price with a cheap "make over". C'mon Honda Japan....get your hands out of your pants and come up with something new!

I have to agree with everyone. It looks like a Victory rear end and I too was also expecting more engine power and improved shock handleing. absolutly no mention of the front fork bearing that desprestly needs to be changed.

One more thought: maybe Honda is looking to make major changes in 2013 and the 2012 is just a stop-over model to entice a few cruiser types into buying.
If so, Honda you have screwed up.
Those types need obnoxiously loud pipes. Honda, do not go there,

Good points Wayne.....some improvements on my bucket list would be....
- Stem bearings (this problem has been going on for ages....for a proper bearing it might cost a little more but this really impacts safety and the enjoyment of the bike if Honda does not address this).
- 6 speed might be nice
- Would like to see more easily readable indicator lights on the instrument panel
- For the price we pay for the bike I think they should include Centramatic wheel balancers as standard
- The GPS system sucks....it has some good features, but it would be nice to be able to program it on the computer like I do for my Garmin portable instead of having to do this on the bike which is very time consuming.
- Air filter....wow....to change this sucker you have to take a good portion of the bike apart.....2-3 hours of work.....c'mon Honda...you can do better than that.
- Tires....Honda really has to get some tires that work better for the bike instead of going out for the cheapest price on a huge tender.

Very, very sad........ Lame ....... Pathetic.
Dumping chrome, blacking out, adding MORE MISMATCHED PAINT.......... UGH!!! Looks like I'll be keeping my '09 FOREVER!!!!

Looka guys...... Don't fix the real problems...... HOPING SOMEONE AT HONDA IS READING THIS!!!!!! They actually e-mailed me a survey and asked why (since I am younger (48) than most GW owners) I purchased one....... and how to appeal to the younger crowd. I did the survey with no place to put comments...... So I printed my comments and mailed it to them........ To my surprise, they actually called about 2 weeks later!! I explained everything I've done to improve handling & eliminate the wobble. I told them simply...... "fix the problems and the bike will sell itself"!! They thanked me for taking the time to do this, and said the comments would be heard by the higher-ups. Guys..... STOP BITCHING HERE!! PRINT IT OUT AND MAIL IT!!! FLOOD THEM WITH COMPLAINTS AND LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY WE'VE SPENT TRYING TO MAKE OUR BIKES HANDLE BETTER!! Let them know the new model is LAME, and you wouldn't buy it!!

On my 2009 Pearl Yellow Comfort / Nav / ABS, so far I've done........
Kury Lugage Rack
Kury Highway Pegs
Honda Spoiler
Show Chrome Fog Lamps
Color matched Front Fender Extension
Backrest
Handlebar Risers (to help with shoulder pain)
Centramatics / Bridgestones (Perfect Combo)
Color Matched Front Engine Cover / Exhaust Covers

This Winter.......
Traxxion AK-20
Superbrace
All-Balls
EC Wiring Harness (to include upper lights for turn signals)
Grip Puppies (to help with hand cramps due to small grips)

Would have liked a 6th gear for highway cruising...... very disappointing I must say...... and perhaps I will need to
upgrade my 08 Wing to a 2012 BMW 1600 LT - it has 6 speeds for ultimate low rpm highway cruising.
