Is there a trick to turning on the CB? I just got this 2006 Gold wing and CB will not turn on

Are you sure that you even HAVE one? Not trying to be a wise guy or anything, but a lot of bikes have the controls and don't have the radio installed....do you have the CB antenna?

If the CB is fitted, you just push the button marked CB to turn it on, to turn it off, you push and hold the button marked CB down for a few seconds and it turns off. First thing is to check that you have the CB fitted as it is NOT a standard option and cost ~$700 to fit so many wings don't have it.. Even if you have the CB antenna, (some people just fit the antenna to make the back of the bike look symetrical!!) you may not have the CB unit fitted.

Just one Antenna I thought it was for both. All the controls are there.

If you are sitting on the bike the antenna to your rear right hand side is the FM radio antenna, and if present the antenna on the left is the CB antenna. Yes all the CB controls are on all 1800 goldwings, but they are not connected to anything, you have to buy the CB module and fit them to get the CB working. As mentioned this costs about $700!! The CB is nice but unless you ride in convoys where you need the radio communication I could not justify $700 for a CB!!

It helps to read the owners manual. To many people have questions that are covered in the owners manual, but fail to read it. You should read it before even riding the bike. That is part of safety training, knowing your bike and the controls.

Sounds like you don't have a CB installed.
Did the seller state the bike had a CB?
If he did than maybe you could go back to him and ask for it. It is a $700 to $1000 extra.

Sometimes but very rarely, you see a used one for sale. I bought mine for $400 (not including antenna) over on the classified section of gl1800riders.com. There is a new company that people are raving about called GL2way. They are competing with the OEM and sell theirs for about $500 (including antenna I think). There unit also has a couple extra plug-ins on it for GPS etc. as I understand it.

Like the other posters mentioned you have two choices. One being the OEM (Honda) with the other being from GL2WAY. I went with the Honda as I also have the OEM CB on my Valkyrie. I am not saying the clone isn't good quality however just wanted to stay OEM. Both items are available thru Wing Stuff.

There was a used one for sale a couple of days ago over on the gl1800riders.com board. I think he wanted $480.
