Cruise Control

Post by Tcooper » Mon May 02, 2011 7:36 pm

Just bought a used 2003 1800. Cruise control button is stuck with the cruise on. Is it ok to drive and does anyone have any idea on how to get it unstuck? I have tried to numerous things, but the button doesn't want to click off.

Thanks

I would recommend going to your local radio shack or similar store and purchasing a can of contact cleaner. Spray some into the openings around the switch and you might be suprised how easliy it works loose. As for riding you should be safe. Several of our members leave theres pushed into the on position so that it is ready to go whenever they want to use their cruise control. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else will pop in with even better ideas! Enjoy your wing. They are great machines!!!

I Tcooper

I have my 2003 for four years, and the cruse control button is always on, no problem with that.

But it's a good thing to clean.

As mentioned above, you are not harming anything by leaving the cruise control turned on, but I don't like having the idiot light on all the time that says "Cruise On", so I just sprayed some lubricant into the switch, pushed it in and out about 20 times and the switch free'd up and has worked fine ever since..
