Cruise control and Hazzard buttons stuck on :(

Postby wingboy02 » Tue May 03, 2011 4:53 pm

Not sure on if I had seen these same issues on this site or another but both of mine are stuck in the "ON" positions. Any suggestions on how to rectify these issues, mind you I am by no means a motorcycle mechanic but I'll try most anything when it comes to having my bike looking and running good. :)

Mine is an '08 and I had this issue with the hazard light switch. Apparantly it is pretty common. Instead of taking mine apart and cleaning it; I first tried saturating it with silicone spray. Had to keep exercising the button a little and spray again but it works like a charm now. I use the silicone instead of WD40. From what I have read the WD40 actually cuts away any existing luberication.

Red Ron, thanks, I'll give it a shot or two LOL. Definitely beats having to rip the whole thing apart. Again, THANKS!

I wingboy02

I remain Brossard South Shore of Montreal, the nights are still cold and I notice that the buttons on my bike glue, and when the bike is warmed by the sun or the temperature rises, my buttons no longer sticky.
The cold plastic shrinks a lot, it contributes to make them stick.

Thanks FlyBoy2121, It is chilly in PA where I'm at and I rode alot last year in weather I perfer not too. I'm sure the extra soakings of H2O didn't help the issue. :(

Always make certian that you give that switch a flick from the right side towards the left. I had to learn to be smarter than the cruise control switch on my Goldwing.
