I have a GL 1800 2002 model and it all the sudden won't start. 15k miles and rode it 3 days ago with no problem, although just a few days ago it took a few tries to get started. It usually starts at just a quick push on the starter button.
By not starting, do you mean it turns over and doesn't start or doesn't turn over? If the first, then check your battery voltage while it is cranking. Low battery voltage, while enough to turn over the engine, will bring and 1800 to its knees. I'm not sure what the voltage cutoff value is at which the GL1800 won't fire, but its not far under 11 or 12 volts.

And if you mean the second, that nothing happens when you push the start button, then the kill button could be the culprit. On my 1800, the reverse button also does this, and is a bit difficult to find till it happens the first time. A great joke at get togethers is to look at bikes and push the reverse button. I don't think it is a great joke, but some people do. I had done it to myself before, so I found it pretty quickly which of course, I am sure, ruined their fun, but there you have it. (I do not know if you have reverse on your bike)
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
