headlights on a 2003 goldwing 1800

Postby 1wildhog2 » Wed May 25, 2011 11:51 am

Other night started my bike and noticed that the headlights did not come on. Tried the hi beams nothing there either. I check the fuses they are good took the low beams out and check them they look good. Where should i look now to find the problem?

check the starter/reverse switch.
I'm not a 1800 owner, but I found the 2 fuses provide power to the hi/lo relays.they do not operate the relays. On the other bikes, the main control is through the start button.remember, the lights go off while cranking.
Turn the key on,I'll bet 23 cents that the 2 relays don't click when you switch between hi and lo.
If thats true, watch the headlight and gently wiggle around with the starter/reverse switches. If it lights up the headlight, even for a moment, clean the switch.

This is my first guess.I hope it puts you on the right track.I'll dig more if you need more info.

Yea,it sounds like it's gonna need to be cleaned up to fix it .Be prepared for it to quit again. At least you'll know whats wrong.
