the vent above the headlights

Postby Fred Blind » Sun Jun 05, 2011 1:43 pm

I just had a 24000 mile tune up done on my 05 wing and the mechanic lost the black cover that goes inside the vent above the headlights. How important is this to replace?

It's hard to say why HONDA put it in there besides asthetics. Right behind there is the mechanism that allows the windshield to "clik" down to the next stop when adjusting the height, and I would think that bugs and road debris would be something to avoid getting in there. It's just a really thin flat piece of black plastic held in with a snap button. It can't cost THAT much for a replacement part, could it?

curious to know 2 things...

1- what's under the cowl to tune-up?

2- I can see "losing" a clip or a screw, how does a mechanic misplace such a large part?

??? SCOTT

I think if the mechanic lost the part, the mechanic should be responsible for replacing it. It's the right thing to do...

Okay you're from Port Richey, I used to live there.
Who did the work on the Wing?
I know some of the independent shops were awful.
I hope Scott didn't retire.
