How to check starter solenoid on 02 goldwing

Post by johnsyellowwing » Thu Aug 11, 2011 8:04 am

My wing won't start. Its not the battery. When I push the ignition,it makes a clicking sound above the battery area. To get it started I can push it and it starts. How do you check the solenoid to see if it is working?

I don't know for sure, but I think it takes more than one relay to get it started.I believe they are safety systems involved like...reverse switch, kickstand switch, neutral indicator, etc.

If the MAIN heavy duty solenoid is clicking, take a test light and probe the big wire that leads to the starter, push the start button. If it lights at the starter, the starter is dead.If it does not light, check on the other terminal,it should be battery power. If it's OK and the relay clicks but no power on the other terminal, replace the solenoid.
