2005 Key

Does the 1800 have a chip in the key. Like a dummy I bought this bike new and lost the key shortly after. I keep meaning to get a replacement but have not yet. Really don't want to deal with the local dealer. Someone once told me that the blank was the same as a Honda civic? Just wondering. I know one of these days I am going to either lock my key in the trunk (almost did that the other day), or loose it and not have another. Also my original one has the 30 year anniversary on it and would like to keep it in good condition.

My buddy's 08 model dont. He did the key in the trunk rutine. Spare key was 350 miles away. Locksmith had one cut just shortly and while the locksmith was there he had another one cut and put in my bike.

Thank You for the information, I am going to find a good locksmith tomorrow. With my luck I will lock it in the trunk on the way there.

No chip. I buy blanks off ebay look up GL1800 on ebay.. Sally

Home Depot.......... it is a Honda car key as told. All you have to do is tell them it is a Honda and then they can match it up. I have had 3 keys made for mine for various different purposes. They all worked just fine.

The Honda Keys are available on EBay and a lot cheaper and thru the dealership. Also if you are at Home Depot, I was told the key is the Axcess #27 key blank.

For me when I go on trips, I have spare key sewn into my Jacket for emergencies .
