Fog Light lens replacement

Postby morningwing » Sat Oct 01, 2011 8:09 pm

Recently purchased my first GL1800 (WooHoooo!!!) Apparently a rock or something has assaulted my right fog light. (The left one has what looks like a B.B. hole in it from the previous owner.) The glass lens was reduced to just a couple of shards hanging on by a thread. The light still works but everywhere I've checked says they are sold only as complete assemblies. Surely someone will sell the lens only. Any help out there will be much appreciated.

1. The lenses are not glass(at least none I've ever seen!) They are either acrylic or polycarbonate plastics.
2. Unless you have the actual fog lamps the replacement lens are for in the above suggested link, most lamps have the lens bonded to the housing w/some type of adhesive sealant. Replacement of the entire lamp is usually needed!

I'm not sure if the fog lights are OEM or aftermarket, but I'm sure the broken lenses are glass. When I removed the
broken shards with pliers it cracked in little pieces and splinters. No doubt in my mind, they're glass.

I have had my fog light lens broken and I can assure you it was glass. Mine are the Show Chrome ones
and I think I bought replacements lens from Big Bike Parts.

Hope this helps.

Larry,
I replaced the fog light lens on both lights about 2 months ago. Much cheaper to replace only the lens. Both lights still work fine. Thanks for your interest. Good riding to you, friend.
