Honda Part Number Error

Postby RobKH7MW » Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:15 pm

I ordered a pair of front caliper covers for my 2008 GL1800 (GL18HPNA) ABS model from my local Honda dealer here in Honolulu, South Seas Honda, under part numbers from the Honda computerized microfische file yielded Honda Part Nos. 61110-MCA-A80 & 61120-MCA-A80 for "Fender Set, R. FR. & L. FR." that were very different and would not fit. I returned the parts to South Seas and they called American Honda on Friday. I called back to South Seas this morning and Scott in the parts dept. informed me that the folks at Honda's Parts Distribution Center on the mainland actually went into the warehouse and confirmed that there are two different versions of front caliper cover/Fender assemblies used on 2006-2010 Honda Gold Wings. He had been able to assist them in determining this by sending them photos of the ones we had received and the ones on my bike.

I had supplied Honda Part Nos. 61110-MCA-A50 & 61120-MCA-A50 (R. & L. respectively) from a receipt from a previous order received from Honda Direct Line in October 2009. The parts received in that order fit perfectly. It seems that the "A50" stock numbers also apply to the 2001-2005 ABS models.

Although not "life threatening" I thought this info might save some of you some frustration and upset.

I am sorry but somehow the pictures I took seem to have been accidentally deleted.

Thanks for the heads up. Funny why Honda would do that.
