Front signal light socket for 2007 GL1800

Postby cajunmotorcycles » Fri Nov 18, 2011 8:19 pm

I ordered a replacement socket for a damaged left mirror from Honda. I received a socket with two leads. The one on my GL 1800 have three leads. Does anyone know if there is a difference between a US Gl 1800 and a Canadian GL 1800 socket. I would like to know if the US motorcycle has three wires goin to hte socket? The other thing the part in Canada is listed as $100. In the US it is listed at between $8 and $10. I would apreciate if shoeoen who has taken a US bike apart let me know if the signal light has two or three wires.

I have not had one apart, however, I have a Maintenance and Service manual from Honda that does distinguish between not only American and Canadian bikes, but even between Canadian Airbag and American Airbag models. That said, it does NOT show any distinction between the Canadian and American bikes in relation to the turn signal wiring, and it shows that there are three wires going to each front signal light. The left light gets an orange, an orange/white and a green; the right light gets what looks like a light brown/white, a light brown and a green. I personally would return the $100 pigtail/socket as the wrong item, and order one of the $8 to $10 dollar ones.

Thank you, but I bought one from an Amreican Honda Dealer and got a two wire one. It was the right part number on the package. This is the reason I am asking. Honda seems to have two pricing schemes one Canadian and one for the US when all parts are coming from the same plant. I'm certainly not going to buy the Canasian part and will try a US part again.

The green wire goes to ground. Is there any provision on your new socket to add a ground wire? If so, then you could just attach the green wire there.

Yes I I could do this but the connector does not fit in the wiring harness. I have converted to a 2001 socket and connection with an adpater from Kuryakan.
