I just scored a cb radio on ebay but it didn't have the filters for non abs bike (2 on the fans and 1 on fuel pump). Has anyone ever taken these apart? I would think the same could be made for much less than Honda wants. The bike is 2006 and I think the radio is much older. So far I think it all works and would hate to spend alot on filters I might not need, but would buy a couple if capacitors if I knew the size.

Some folks say they aren't needed, but if they are, the fan filters are $45 each and the fuel pump filter is $25, from places like cyclemax and wingstuff. I can see what you are saying about too expensive. I hope you scored a very good deal on the CB and also hope it came with all the wiring. We just installed two of the OEM CB units, but did not measure the capacitance of the filters, sorry. Do not even know if the filters are indeed capacitors, but I would think that they are. You are probably on the right track, but I cannot be of more help than that, and that is not very much

They could be capacitors, chokes, or perhaps both - but whatever they are, I can guarantee that they are not worth $25 or $45. If the values of the components could be discovered, I'm pretty sure you could put one together for $5 or less.

Hey Guys, did anybody figure this one out yet???? I'm in the same predicament, have the CB and antenna but need the filters. The bike is a '07 but the CB came from a wrecked '03. Any suggetions for filters?

You can get capacitors pretty cheap and they will work well for noise filters. The value of the caps should be between 500 and 1000uF@25V non-polar. The voltage rating on the cap needs to be at least twice as much as the supply voltage, this will handle any voltage spikes that the system produces. You can get these from Radio Shack or any electronics supply house, I would get an assortment of "Mylar Caps" and see which value worked the best for the noise you are having.

Thanks a million! I'll give it a try and let you know how it works.
