Let me know what you find out. You two sound like us, I'm bigger, wife is petite, but only 4' 12". I'm specifically looking for a jacket with some of the protection built in. Thanks in advance.

Go to http://www.motoport.com/ They custom build all their riding gear. I have been wearing one of their Kevlar mesh jackets for five years now and other than some fading it is in as good a shape as the day I bought it. Also bought the wifes jacket there two years ago, fit is perfect. Top quality gear.

Go to www.leatherup.com to find really nice jackets at poor man prices. We got our Xelement level 3 jackets with armor for under $80. Why spend a fortune on custom stuff ???? 8-) http://www.leaatherup.com

Dunno bout you guys and your dealerships, but having purchased stuff like motorcycles from my local dealership, they give me pretty good deals on accessories and clothing. When I bought the bike, I got a free Goldwing jacket, then they knocked half off for a match for the wife. Fall came, and they knocked 60% off a leather jacket for me. All jackets are made by Joe Rocket, and come with armour. I thought I was getting a pretty good go here. Please don't tell me the jackets are $14.99 on ebay, cause I won't believe it.

Have you tried Motorcycle Gear formerly New Enough?? One of the best places I have dealt with. Excellent service and products.

http://www.motorcyclegear.com/

For example. The Tourmaster Transition is an awesome jacket. Have one myself and a BIG guy in our GWRRA chapter wears one too. Comes in sizes up to XXXXL.

Seems Joe Rocket is about all the Honda dealers carry around here. Joe Rocket products aren't too bad but have a reputation for zipper failure.

The Kilimanjaro isn't a bad jacket. It's been around for years. I have a First Gear jacket that I really liked until I got my Tourmaster Transition. I'm telling you man check it out. Lots of pockets and well done venting.

I think a jacket is a personal thing. You have to keep looking until you find one YOU like. I have two jackets, one is a powertrip, one is a teknic. I have had the teknic for eight years and it is perfect for me. However it is wearing out, so I've been looking to replace it. I've looked everywhere and still nothing. I think you should ask yourself what you want in a jacket then go hunting. There are so many good ones out there. I know it can be mind numbing. So, good hunting!

Try here. $10 more than Motorcycle Gear. No biggy. I see they even have 4XL Tall depending on the color you chose.

I hear you. I have four jackets. A Tourmaster, Olympia, Scorpian and a First Gear. That is also the order of my preference.

I also really like the Teknic Freeway.

Ya, definitely best to go and try things on. Everybody seems to have a bit of a variance on sizing. Nothing like holding it in your hands.

A good friend of mine lives in Columbus, OH and tells me Iron Pony is the place to go. Thousands of jackets to try on. So we're going down in a couple weeks and shopping until we find what we want. (Then probably come home and buy it on eBay! LOL)

I've found eBay isn't as cheap as it used to be. Many online stores have close out deals that have some awesome pricing. Better than that is to find someone who will buy it for you at the wholesale level.

Something to think about. When we mail order or use the internet to buy bike accessories, we are taking a sale away from our local dealer.
Remember: if you don't buy from your local dealer, he may not be there next time you want a bike or need a part! Just something to keep in mind. When I buy from a dealer, I tell them I can get a better price on the internet and can they give me a discount to compete? Most of them can't match the internet price, but everyone of them DO give me a discount when I ask for it. Mention this when you are shopping for a new bike and I bet they will give you a better price on the bike also. These guys have more overhead than internet warehouses and it is tough for them to compete. Help them and they will help you.
