76 GL1000 Parts and Fairings For Sale

Postby Thenatebshow » Sun May 27, 2012 11:08 pm

I am new here and....
I am currently rebuilding a 76 GL1000 and I intend to make it a completely new bike. With that said I am looking to offload most everything that was on the bike including: Vetter Fairings, Stepped Seat, Saddle Bags, Trunk (not sure whats its called), Gas Tank(actual), Front Fender, Muffler as well as all of the "frame work" and mounts for the "body" items.

Here are a couple of pictures of the bike before I started

Here is a pic of the seat, fairings, trunk and faux gas tank(I also have the frame of the tank that goes around the airbox and holds the electronics) removed.

Please inquire about anything that you are interested in because this thing is getting a lot of work done to it and all that I am sure I will be keeping is the engine, transmission, and frame.

I have and/or can take more pics of anything you'd like. Just let me know!

NATE B

I'm totally drooling over the entire setup on that bike. Totally my color and everything. I'm so stealing the design of this bike...but doing mine in red.

Could you send me some pics of the frame covers left and right (that cover the battery etc)...are the tabs ok..any cracks?
Also a pic of the bars that the lower tail light bar use to attach to the bike.
Also the tow package.
Also the lower fairings for the windjammer.
Also the mirrors...left and right.
Also...what is the setup of the for gear shift...are they built into floorboards?

my email is mark4.1to20@gmail.com

Thanks Jarrod

I am looking for a good clean tank for a 76 gl1000. What condition is yours in? If clean and not dented I am interested. I will repaint if scraped. I have already bought 3 on Ebay that were rusty despite claims to the contrary. I am located in Western Washington

Thanks. Ken

I have "cleaned up" tanks before. The results are never very good. I may take one to a radiator shop and have it professionally done but I have not been satisfied with vinegar or electrolysis in the past. The only way to get a GL1000 tank properly restored is to split it. You can't seal one due to the screen in the bottom.

All I can think is somebody spent a lot of time and money on this bike at some point in the past. Was probably owned by a Swede named Lars  .
Good luck with the project!

Woodwinger, I sent you a PM about tank.

Sorry that I have been away guys but if anyone is interested in anything just ask. I have just cleaned up the mufflers. I sanded them and used a dremel to remove the rust, then I painted them. The chrome pieces have some scratches on them and need a polishing but it still looks pretty sweet.
