Need radio to fit old Vetter fairing

Postby Rocketman » Sun Jun 03, 2012 6:59 pm

I have a 77 Goldwing with a Vetter fairing that has an AM/FM cassette radio. I was planning to play my iPod through the radio using a cassette adapter plugged into my iPod but found that the cassette player is not working. When a regular cassette is plugged in the tape advances but there is just static. I tried a couple tapes. Looking for a knob type cassette player/radio that will work or a modern version with a audio input jack instead of cassette would be great. Anyone know where to try for radios? The local auto parts stores don't carry radios anymore.

I can hook you up. PM me your zip if interested and I'll work out the shipping.. I have a cassette player with jack input. Knob dials. Comes with speakers. See pics $15 plus shipping. Almost brand New. Installed in my truck, but then sold my truck the next month. I never used the speakers.

Thanks anyway, but I don't think that type radio will fit in my Vetter fairing unless I modify the fairing and I don't wish to do that. The radio that's in there is like the old style used in the 60's and 70's where the radio is mounted by the two shafts. See picture below. The rectangular part of the radio that juts out of the fairing is about 4 1/8 X 1 5/8 inches.

I have an older goldwing fairing with the radio setp you have that mounts right too it. Radio and speakers and antena. When I packed it away it all worked. It also has the am tuning key with it. I believe it was the stock radio for it. PM me if interested.
How many times do I have to tell ya,,, The right tool for the right job!

Thanks anyway, but I ended up buying a retro AM/FM cassette radio from Crutchfield for $50. It also has an aux audio input so I can use it with my iPod as well.
