Fo Sale-Radiator Blanket for 75-83 Wings

Postby Missourimike » Sun Oct 21, 2012 4:30 pm

Being my Wing's temp gauge never comes out of "cold" range when O.A. air temps are 60 and below, I had a radiator blanket, or vest if you will, made to get my engine warm in cold weather. I can tell you it works like a charm. Made of the same material used for seats, has a 9" zipper to open and allow about 1/4 of the radiator to be exposed when running in warmer weather. Instead of taking 5 miles to warm up, now it's just a mile. At highway speeds, 60degree temps, blanket zipped shut, the gauge stays in the middle of "warm" and actually drops in temp when in town. Attaches to the 4 bolts holding the screen, no need to remove the screen, no washers needed as grommets are installed. I think an engine will last longer and rider stay warmer with one of these.

Thanks, but it's really not a novel idea. I've had to do the same with cardboard and other materials on my truck's diesel motor.
The "white" is just highly polished aluminum reflecting light. That is an 1100s fork and triple tree on my '79. The old springs wore out by near 60K and the 1100s front end is beefier. Anything I can do to improve on my bike will get done, eventually!
And a Happy New Year to You too! Wishing all a Safe and Good Year. Prosperous New Year may be asking for the moon.

Having another batch of radiator blankets/vests made up. It's still going to be cold, on occasions, for the next 3 months. Keep your old Wing comfortable.
