WTB 98-00 engine guards

Postby RoadRogue » Mon Feb 11, 2013 12:43 am

The title pretty much sums it up, I have a pair of cut ones on my 97 but want the real thing for the cleaner look of the later style 8-)

Todd .... Gary at Cyclemax used to carry them, as that is where I bought mine a few years back, (Jan/09) but I've noticed in the past couple of years he hasn't had them listed on his site. (listing # H-1230 - $195.00)
If you can't dig up any in the next while, it might be wise to send him an email, or give him a call and see if he can order you in a set and what kind of price he wants for them now. He's quite responsive to customers wants/needs.

Good Luck, Dusty

Ok Todd

I just did some checking around and so far have come up with these from Add On, although they say 'coming soon' there is no mention when either they are coming, or when that was posted, but I see they are under the **NEW** Category on their site.

I see they are using one of my photos to show them! (never asked my permission!) :x

I would at least ask them about it. Maybe from free bling can come your way.

Serve their ISP with a DMCA takedown notice. I used to try to be friendly when I found my stuff posted elsewhere without my permission - particularly when they would go to lengths to remove watermarks and copyright information, and then take credit for the production of it. I finally decided that being friendly wasn't working, so now I simply serve their ISP with a DMCA notice. Their ISP will force them to remove the offending material, and if they don't, the ISP by law has to shut the whole site down. It has worked every time I've done it.

I asked Gary at Cyclemax about these, pointing him to the page you posted. Apparently he not only knows about it, he's the cause of it! Here's what he said:

I had been selling the early style guards from Add-On for about $100 per pair. Add-On did not make the later style ones. I was able to buy the OEM Honda later style guards and sell them for about $190 per pair. Then Honda raised the price on them to $286 each! I knew that they would not sell very well at that price so, I talked Add-On into making the later style guards also. They are still in the production phase and should be available soon. They are also making copies of the GL1800 guards which will be available soon as well. There you have it.

Thanks, Gary

I have a good right guard.
The left has rash from the Tow Truck Driver! (Along with the Busted left saddle bag) Neither were damaged by the accident. The bike landed on my left ankle so they were off the ground when we came to rest (to say) on the road from the quick stop into the car side.
