Several Used Wings Coming Up Available Soon, Plus

Postby wjnfirearms » Tue Apr 02, 2013 6:22 am

I had a chat with my new boss at the shop yesterday and after looking over the volume of bikes for sale (and we have way more than I thought) and ones coming up, I discovered that we have several Wings in inventory. They just need some work before they can be listed.

My son just got hired with me yesterday as a mechanic and part of his duties are to get acquired bikes ready for sale. The Wings will be moved from just "in stock" to "available for sale" over the next months. One of them is on the rack as I type this. None of them will be listed until they are in good running condition and safe to ride.

Part of what I'm being allowed to do is to make these bikes available to you guys as soon as they are done. I'll place listings on here with full descriptions and pricing. We can arrange shipping from here or you can pick up.

If anyone is interested in any other type of bike from Harley to Honda or a vintage, which we have quite a few from Harleys to Indians to Triumphs to BSAs and BMWs, drop me a line. We have an '83 CB1000 in stock in the showroom ready to go in amazing condition.

My personal e-mail is officer64@aol.com.

This is sorta slick....GoldwingDoc's own private shop? Is the establishment willing to change its name? First shot at motorcycles, not bad not bad ;)

I'll be glad to next time I'm at the shop. I'm not scheduled to start my position until Monday coming. I believe, if memory serves, the asking price on the CB1000 is $2900. It really is a beautiful machine.

I don't think they'll be too hot on changing the name from Cycle Warehouse to Gold Wing Warehouse. Too many Harleys there, anyway. Nice thought, though. 8-)

If it's a Harley shop you are working at do you have to suck a lemon before you start work?? Like some places you have a coffee but at a Harley place you suck a lemon. I seem to never see a Harley rider smiling. Today I saw a guy out on one and you think he would be happy but no he looked like he had sucked a lemon before going out or are they really that bad to ride?? I actually like the look of the bike but have never rode one.

Nah. It's not that kind of shop. Lemons are optional.

One of the reasons I got the position is that part of the changes they want to make is to be able to cater to metric types more. They know my expertise is more to metrics than to Harleys. Obviously, I have to learn more about Hogs and I'm looking forward to that. They already have more availability of stuff for metrics along with a significant number of bikes in inventory. More of the stock is H-D than metric, but that will change. There is stuff for metrics there, though. For example, a few months ago I was there looking for oil filters for the '77. They had several in stock. The inventory is mind boggling. The building was an 85,000 square foot 4 story department store in it's past and all the floors are crammed with stuff of all kinds, new and used. Parts, chrome, clothes and leather, engines, and on and on and on. It's a biker's wet dream. It's going to take me a long time to know exactly what's where and how many.

The shop is on the bottom floor along with the main bike showroom and there has to be at least 30 or more ready to go to new homes. About 20 or so bikes are on the first floor also. My son had trouble finding stuff to work on the bikes the other day when he worked there for a day to show them what he was capable of before they hired him. Tons of stuff everywhere along with a number of bikes in line for service to get ready for sale. Beyond comprehension. He said that one of his first missions was to organize the repair shop and get rid of the junk so he could actually work.

We both have our work cut for us as organization is desperately needed all over, if at least due to the sheer volume of inventory. The parts guru, Fergy, died last year from cancer after being there for 10 years. Things piled up until they finally decided enough was enough and I got hired. I should have held out for more money, me thinks. Ah, what the hell. I'll get it done. So will Sam. We're both excited about not only the jobs, but working together.

One thing I stumbled upon when I took my first walk through the other day was a black NOS Vetter Windjammer III! Brandie new and never mounted. Unreal. I can only imagine what else is buried amongst the treasure.

There is one bike I want pretty badly. It's an '89 KZ1000 Police Special straight from CHiPs. I've always wanted one. I just have to figure out how to be able to pay for it. That's one mission I'm going to concentrate on.

Oh yeah...the CB1000 is $2999 and has 20,000 some miles on it. It is immaculate. Showroom stock, no accessories mounted or changes made from stock. Pictures to follow probably Monday evening.

If you run across any "trikes", please let me know. I am looking to go a little newer than my '86. Thanks.

I will keep an eye out. Right now, the only trike is an original Harley Servicar.

If the Kawa PD bike is missing it's red and blue 4" lights, give me a holler when you need them. As for the location of this fabulous gold mine you are now working at...how about an address? Might want to schedule guided tours in the future, too :D !

200 S. Main Street, Butler, Pennsylvania 16001.
Mon-Fri, 10a-5p
Tues-Thurs, 10a-7p
Sat-10a-3p
Closed Wed & Sun

We already give informal tours as due to the volume of classics and stuff on site, there is a resemblance to a museum. Plus, it's good business. We're actually looking into hiring someone as a "greeter".

Mike, the pursuit lights were already replaced with clear running lights. Don't want anyone running afoul of the law.

I would love that position, but it would be one helluva commute ;) So envious.

Looking at the address reckon you could get them to move the whole location about 1500 miles south...say someplace in south/central Texas??? It would be a lot easier to go visit, and you could tell the boss, it is riding weather 345 days a year. That means more opportunity for business......lol...

I'd be interested in the 'Greeter' opening and I'm willing to relocate.

I'd have a blast as a greeter.
On Saturday, customers would get fresh cookies or whoopee pies when the come through the door.
They can ask me questions and get answers, and I like doing that. What good is having knowledge and information if you cannot share it.

I'd love to drop your name for it, TL. For what they would be willing to pay, I couldn't see anyone relocating for that job. I'm confident that they're looking to pay at or around minimum wage.

I'm sure you would be great at the job, though.

The first day went off ok. Setting up my workstation today I believe. I did go through sensory overload as Bill, the manager, took me through the entire building. There was even more inventory than I imagined or saw previously. Unimaginable! Finding everything is a daunting task. I found more Vetter stuff including a set of bags. I pretty much fudged my way through yesterday without incident.

As soon as I can figure out how to download pictures from my new iPhone 4 to the PC, I'll post pictures of the CB1000. Aside from the left rear turn signal stalk being broken, it's as nice a bike as I originally thought it is.

On the Servicar do you know how old it is? If it's all intact, original and runs it is worth serious money.
A 1973 and one of the last 10 built sold for $24,000.00.

I know it's older than '73 and supposedly is in running condition. The one thing that sucks about it is that last owner painted it gold. A Harley police servicar is supposed to be white! Period!

TL, if you see this posting before you call Tim on Thursday, it might be a good idea to call me tomorrow (Wednesday) first. Check your PM.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
How about a SilverWing 650I?
Still looks like a Wing, a lot lighter and has pep.
