The grab rail in your picture is from a '75-77 model, the 78-79 don't have the mounts for directional signals on theirs. The one you pictured is VERY expensive, the one made for 78-79 are usually less than $100. Do you have the Vetter luggage rack and side mounts for Vetter bags? They are black, not chromed, metal. Look on craigvetter.com site for pictures of all the stuff he made back then. He doesn't sell the stuff anymore, being he sold the company, but does have some parts. I have on hand NOS mounting hardware for the trunk and side bags and used bags and trunk. Have them for both the 1000 and 1100s, as they are different and not interchangeable.

Yes you are right Mike..the pic I posted was wrong.
I have since found the correct bar and should have it Friday.
I think I have all the rest of the mounting hardware, but I guess I will find
out when I do the job.
I should delete this post, however i am not sure how to do it.
Thanks for your input mike.

I have copies of the mounting instructions for the GL1100 80-83, but none for the GL1000. But they are very similar. If you need copies, PM me. I see in your avatar photo that the bike has the Samsonite type suitcases. Same I have on my '79.

As much as I like the Samsonite luggage, I've not got anyone or anywhere else to put. They do have weak spots, which are in the corners, but I have a method of fixing them that makes them better than new, and much stronger. 2 yrs ago I made a 1600 mile trip, 500 miles through Oklahoma, all rain and two tornadoes. They kept everything dry as toast. Even if I wanted them, I imagine the shipping would be a bit much, from Canada. I've ordered stuff from there before and it took the loooonnnngest time to get!

Likewise when I ordered from the USA to Canada. It took forever.

That's Canada Post for you. I ship things all over the world, it literally takes less time to ship things to Europe than it does to ship them 300 miles to Canada. Costs a LOT less to ship to Europe, too.

If I ship something to Buffalo, it will get there in one or two days. If I ship it to Fort Erie, Ontario (right across the border from Buffalo) it can take two weeks, and will cost triple what it costs to ship to Buffalo.

Not getting any better for the States. This past week, it took 9 days for a pair of brake lines to get to me, from next door Tenn.
I sent a GL1000 gas tank to Ohio and it took 7 days. I think all those cost saving measures the USPS put in place must be working. And every time they postage costs are raised, the mail gets slower.
