Wanted: GL1500 Stock Alternator Rotor

Postby Bluewaterhooker0 » Tue Apr 07, 2015 10:08 pm

Had my stock '97 alternator die in January. The rotor is the failed part. No continuity between the contact sleeves. Looking for just a rotor, maybe from someone who has a bad alternator with a failed outer winding, or regulator. Pre '96 would be fantastic, but any will do as used for a backup alternator.

The biggest problem with the stock alternator is that it only produces a maximum 40 amps, and as you noted the later ones seemed to be prone to failure. If you want to rebuild the stock one I guess thats up to you, however if you want more amps for more accessories like I did then this is the one I went with.....

RoadRogue,
I have an 85A Lactrical on the bike now. I am just looking to make my old alternator usable again, as a backup, for if or when the 85A takes a dive. 40A is better than nothing, in that case. Hate to toss an otherwise usable alternator in the trash when I'm sure there is someone out there with a good rotor in a bad alternator.
