side panel grommets

Post by flash1942 » Fri Jul 10, 2015 10:19 am

I have found a limited local source of side panel grommets that seem to work very well. I'm using them on my '84 Aspy now. I don't know if it will fit other years but will fit my '84.Easy to insert with a little care and a medium screwdriver. They are round but will conform to the oval shape of the hole when installed. You may have to SLIGHTLY rough up the panel's pin with 150 grit sandpaper to provide a bit more resistance to slip and maybe not depending on the panel's pin condition.

If you need some I can ship you 6 for $8.00 including postage. I'm not making much but just enough to cover my time and postage.

That's a great deal and thanks for the offer.
I ordered a replacement set for my GL1500 through Cyclemax and found that not only are there some round and oval shapes, but they also come in different thicknesses.
I found out the hard way after struggling to get one on there was another that had more space for the thickness of the slot.
I was real careful after that to match up the one I took off to the new one.

Something to consider anyway.
