After market seat wanted

Post by canoodle » Fri Aug 28, 2015 8:42 pm

Hey guys-just joined up after buying my first GW four days ago- 1985 Aspencade-pretty chuffed with the bike so far-lowish mileage at 67000 kilometers ( not miles !!) and in good nick. The only disappointment so far is with the stock seat- its in good shape and looks pretty comfy, but after a 300 km ride yesterday, my posterior was seriously aching. Looking to buy an after market Saddlemen or Corbin seat- any one out there selling one ? - I'm in Vancouver,BC, Canada-have my own FedEx account could use for shipping purposes.
While I'm about it- tried downloading the 1985 Aspy owners manual-but no luck- anyone have a copy they can e mail me- my email is kelicoltrading@gmail.com
cheers and be safe.

Welcome to the forum canoodle and congrats on the wing.
I don't have a seat to offer you but saw these doing a search. The second one is a corbin. Both need repair on the backrest.
If you have a post box in the states, (Washington), you could probably save a bit on shipping. Ride over and put it on, ride back.
Someone here might reply back that has one too.

I do hope you are looking at new seat prices in addition to just looking for a used seat. A well broken in Corbin might be great for my butt but not for yours! And then you are worse off than now plus out some money.

Do a google search for seats as there are a lot of aftermarket seat manufacturers out there. Also you might consider taking the present seat to an upholstery shop, one that does car stuff, and see if they can change out the foam with better stuff and contour it to you. Might be cheaper than buying a used seat and more comfortable also.

+1 on the upholstery option. That would be my first place to call.

BeadRider. It worked for me, is cheap (can be found used) and can be plasti-dipped to give it some traction if desired...

I will be selling my Corbin seat off of my 2015. has complete passenger and backrest and driver back rest. But I'm looking for a stock seat first.

If you really want a comfortable seat that you can sit on all day, look for a Russell Day Long Saddle. They have a good website and each seat is made for the buyer, based on his weight and so forth. They also want info on the passenger to make it work.

I had a Corbin years ago on a Venture and it was a good seat but when I upgraded to a newer bike they would do the upholstery but wanted the cost of a new seat. I went with the more expensive Russell DAy Long and never looked back.

I do have a stock OEM seat for a 2001 through 2010 GL1800. It is used!
