Wanted intercom system from bike to helmets

Postby demac1763 » Tue Jan 26, 2016 8:16 pm

I am looking for the intercom parts that would hook into the bike and go to the helmets for my wife and I. If any of you have this that your not using let me know as I have priced new ones and see they are very proud of them. Thanks

You didn't say what bike this is for?
Does your bike have the intercom and you just need headsets and coil cords?
What type helmet, open face, half or full face?

If you do have headsets, the manufacturer makes a difference as well.

I have a 99 Se model and I guess the 3/4 helmet since the wife won't ride in cold weather. I have the connectors from the bike and the connector that plugs to the bike and goes to the headset. I just don't have the headset part

OK, probably enough information to go on now.
I have owned a "standard" (inexpensive) headset and it was fine for talking back and forth with the passenger, if that is all you will use it for.
Personally, I listen to music while riding, so I upgraded to a set of J&M headsets. They have a much better sound, not like one of the old transistor radios.
The microphones are also better, resulting in less wind noise.
Which ever way you go, be aware that you probably will have to expand or cut away part of your helmet for the speakers to fit.
The cheaper headsets usually have larger speakers for some reason, so you end up cutting more out.

The bottom line, as with almost everything, is to buy the best that you can afford at the time.
Cyclemax or Sierra are great places to start looking.

OK thank you for the info, I usually do more solo riding anyway and I do use the bike speakers. I guess it will be better to keep it simple and not invest in something that may only be used once or twice a year. I have a Bluetooth setup in a helmet if I want to answer the phone or listen to my phone music. I just thought it would be neat to see how the bike system worked.. :D

If you have a bluetooth in one helmet, get another for the other helmet.
You should be able to talk back and forth as well when paired.

That's what I think I will do, it looks like that would be cheaper than trying to use the GW system who's is older technology to boot. Thanks for setting me straight in my thinking
