FS Russell Day-Long Touring Saddle/GL1500

Postby dovesdrummer » Sat May 14, 2016 6:00 pm

For a bigger rider ( which I'm not ). It came on my 97 when I bought it. I recently bought an OEM so no longer need this one. It's a dark gray leather with foldable backrest and pouch on the backrest for passengers use. Look at the pics and if you like it, private message me a reasonable offer.

Crack is under passenger portion. It's not structural but I wanted to show it. I don't know the age. I will call Russell with serial # and update post on Monday. As far as pricing goes, I would like to at least recover my cost for the new seat I bought.

You didn't happen to get a new seat off craigslist or ebay for a hundred bucks did you? :D

Funny you ask that. Found one on ebay for $95+$45 shipping that was described as being for a 97-2000. In 97 all seats were black, and in 98-2000 they were black w/gray inserts. I could've lived with either, so I ordered it. When I received it, it was actually Tuscany Red, which is a super dark brown and is for model years 94-96. Sure looked black in the pics though. Sounded to good to be true and it was :(

Hahaha!
What's funny is I have a '94 with the Tuscany Red seat I want to replace or recover. Its coming apart at the seams. In some of the seams, it looks like the PO used some kind of glue or epoxy on it.

I can get you in touch with guy. I sent the seat back to him. It is as close to perfect as you could get. In original box even. May have never been used

Hey everyone. Update. I contacted Russell and the crack in the seat pan (shown in pics) is actually structural and as a result I have decided to just keep the seat. I'm sorry for wasting the forums time as well as sorry for posting that the crack wasn't structural. As it ends up, it will cost $150-200 to repair. I'm sure glad I contacted them and didn't stick one of you guys with it. Thanks for all the interest. And once again, my apologies

Even if it cost $200 to fix that seat it is worth a lot of money, you might sell it for a reasonable price and the buyer can spend $200 to fix it and still have a great seat a good price.

I bought it from him, and I am skilled at fixing things like that so it should be no problem. I have had a Russell for years an love the comfort of them, you will not find a better seat. And I really needed this one regardless of the crack. Plus I don't sit back there so no big deal.
