GL1500 small fairing piece above/behind front wheel

Postby t-bar12 » Thu Jun 30, 2016 12:59 pm

For my black GL1500 (1988-89), I am searching for the left (when sitting on the bike) small fairing piece the sits above the front fender - close to the chrome yoke cover. It goes on after attaching the chrome wheel covers on the front wheel - and it covers some of the cables / wires. It measures about 6 inches long and 4 inches high, with a slot that goes around the cables.

I have looked a good bit - without any luck. Anyone know where I can locate one?

Thanks!

Don't know where you might find one over there.
Those are notorious for being lost, especially if not seated well or the grommet is bad.
Add On has started making a replacement set that Cyclemax carries here.
Whatever way you go, I suggest getting a set of Rudy's Keepers that have a tether for these as well as the side covers and back pocket doors.

Thanks for the tips. I grew up in America and travel there every so often, so I can order / purchase things there.

Hopefully, I can find an original part - but if not, the ones you propose are a good alternative. Thanks!

Agreed, the set that I posted were just an example of how frequently they seem to disappear.
You are probably better off getting just the side that you need instead of those and painting them.

Few years back I read they were TUFF to come by after loosing one.
Since then I've both 'fish leader' tied and electrical taped it.

The pounding the front suspension gets, I'm really surprised the way it was designed.

These are called the fendercovers. If you search Ebay they will come up. They usually do not come cheap. I had one missing when I purchased my Wing. Cost me about $75 on Ebay but i found one that came with the front cover below the radiators too. The aftermarket ones are available in chrome as well for about $100 a pair.
