1993 Hazard lights button needed

Postby dvcruz » Fri Jul 08, 2016 10:30 am

Hi.
My new to me '93 1500 is missing the Hazard Lights push button. Everything works fine on the rest of the switches and I don't know how the button got lost. I am looking for just the button, if someone has a non-working switch or maybe a button in a box of odds and ends. Of course I'm willing to pay for it and shipping, just don't want to buy a whole replacement switch for 1-2 hundred dollars.
Just thought I'd ask...

Thanks.
dvc

That's going to be scarce as a hens tooth to find.

In the mean time, maybe make a temporary one out of 2 part epoxy.
Molding clay a reverse form. Mix and pour it in. File/sand to finish shape.

Looks like it doesn't have much of a shoulder to keep it in.
Wonder if there's a mini version of Rudy's Panel keepers for that button?

I didn't have any big hopes of finding the button. Just hoped so one had one laying around. It's probably the same button used for the cruise control and found on any number of Honda bikes. Oh well, no harm in asking and I might try to make my own somehow.

Could take several layers of plastic or ABS found on the roadside and glue up, shape to fit.
I see many intersections has COLORED plastic... pick color of choice... it's FREE! :P

I doubt the button just popped out. I have seen where the button had stuck on and in exasperation a person would pull it out with a pair of pliers. I suspect that is what happened rather than it just popping out.

Your best bet is Ebay or a salvage yard. There are left handlebar switch assemblies on Ebay now. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xgl1500+left+handlebar.TRS0&_nkw=gl1500+left+handlebar&_sacat=0

A new one for $114 and a used one for $65 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Honda-Gl1500-Left-Side-Handlebar-Control-Radio-Choke-/321943364736?hash=item4af551e480:g:1BEAAOSwnipWZlqp&vxp=mtr.

Or you can be patient and wait for one at a lower price.

Patience is a virtue and cost less. I'll wait or sure enough the day after I buy a switch ill bump into someone that will say "hey I have one of those in my junk drawer. You could of had that one for free".
