1990, 1500 Aspencade

Postby 702scottc » Mon Aug 01, 2016 8:19 am

I'm considering selling my 1990 if someone is interested. Something has failed in the transmission and is making a lot of racket. The bike is fully loaded with all the extras, CB, etc. it's in excellent shape aside from the trans. It would make an excellent project bike or a parts donor. The rear tire is a new Dunlop that might have 400 miles on it, the front is a matching Dunlop as well. Everything works on it. I'm not interested in parting it out, if someone is interested I'd let it go complete . Not sure what it is worth at this point but I'm thinking around $900 or so. It would need to be trailered home. Send me a PM if anyone might be interested.

Sorry to hear that you are selling your bike.
If the transmission has gone, just about the only thing to do is swap out the motor and transmission from another, newer model (97 and above).
They can be had for less than $1000 and you'll have a bike that is almost brand new again and will last many more years.
That said, perhaps your asking price is a bit low for what you have.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

Check on the drive shaft splines... If the seal when bad on the drive shaft water can ruin the splines and then they wear out... The striped out splines sound really bad but is a rather easy fix and not hard on the wallet either...
Remove the rear wheel and the final drive and you'll know if this is your case our not...

If you have someone who is interested in the bike let me know. I would consider a reasonable offer. I`m not giving it away.

Didn't expect you to give it away... I was just offering you a possible $150 fix for it...
