Trike for sale

Postby dskinner » Tue Oct 04, 2016 1:27 pm

1991 Interstate Trike. Champaign beige. 124 k. Triked 55k ago. Looks great. It ran great until it stopped running at a stop light. It cranks fine but will not start. I am not enough of a mechanic to fix it. In Tampa area.

Did the engine make any unusual noise before it quit running? Your asking price?

There was no unusual sound. It was running smoothly. It just quit running. Since it is a rather quiet bike and I was in traffic, I didn't notice it had quit until I looked at the tach after I stopped. I was coasting to a stop and was surprised to see that it wasn't running. I immediately tried to restart it. It cranks fine but doesn't catch. I called my wife and towed slowly it behind her car the 4 miles home.

I checked the fuel pump. It doesn't pump. There is no electricity at the pump's terminals. When a positive lead is attached to the positive terminal, it pumps fine, so it isn't the fuel pump. For some reason, no electricity is reaching the pump.

I checked the kill switch. The terminals are tight and look like new. Running the kill switch back and forth doesn't do anything.

Price? I don't know. You can take a look at it and make an offer. My wife was talking about replacing it before it quit. I have had it since 2004 (it had 47,700 miles on it when I bought it) and she was thinking of something newer.

If you want my address to come and look at it, let me know. I have complete records on it in an Excel spreadsheet. It is almost 1,000 lines long (182k). If you have an email address, I can send the file to you.

Do you have access to a trailer to tow it away? It weighs about 1,100 lbs. Uhaul has a 5X9 trailer for $25 per day. It is too big for a 4X8 trailer.

I don't have email at home so I will check each evening.

Could you be so lucky that it might be as simple as a fuse or relay? If not that , maybe a broken wire? Sounds minor, but it may be a chore to find. At s 1000 miles away, think I'll pass. Thanks for the come back.

I have checked the fuses and relays. Since it cranks, the starter relay is ok. I figured it might be simple but I can't find it.
